OUT-SORBS
A natural cost
efficient sorbent produced from kenaf plant
New Generation Industries offers OUT-SORBS,
an industrial oil absorbent manufactured from the Kenaf plant
grown and processed in Texas. NGI distributes this product for
Kenaf Industries of South Texas LP.
- Highly effective......
· Absorbs oils on floor, land and water surfaces
· One pound of OUT-SORBS has the ability to absorb approximately 1.2 gallons of medium to heavy oil · Absorbs non-aggressive fluid spills and
quickly absorbs oil while resisting water · High oil absorbency makes it superior to peat moss and other materials used to clean up spills
Lightweight… · Easy handling · Lower transportation costs for disposal

Easy Application… · Doesn’t require trained technicians · Compatible with equipment used with conventional spill clean-up materials
Indefinite Shelf Life…
· Store in dry areas · Keep away from sources of combustion
Environmentally Safe... · The plant and its products are completely biodegradable · Non-toxic · Non-abrasive
Recovery and Disposal The absorbed materials can be
recovered by vacuuming, sweeping, squeezing, etc, and can be used to
solidify liquid waste for safe transport of hazardous material. On its own
it will not produce unwanted emissions. As an energy source, Kenaf will
contribute 7,000 B.T.U.’s per pound during incineration.
(excluding non-aggressive fluids)
Who Benefits from OUT-SORBS? Industrial facilities, fuel stations, hazardous materials and emergency
response departments, fire departments, transportation carriers,
refineries, utility companies, oil rig operations (land and water), and
bulk storage terminals for oil spills and non-aggressive fluid spills.
Testing Proves Powerful Absorbency of Kenaf James Laboratories, Inc. in Lafayette, Louisiana, performed numerous
analysis of Kenaf, testing its absorbency of chemicals
commonly used in the petroleum industry. Test results
indicate that Kenaf will absorb several times its weight
in the following categories of chemicals:
· Emulsion
Breaker consisting of heavy aromatic naptha, xylene, alcohols, acids,
amines, polymers and surfactants was readily absorbed upon initial
contact with Kenaf.
· Corrosion
Inhibitor containing similar ingredients as Emulsion Breaker was also
readily absorbed upon initial contact with Kenaf.
· Paraffin Inhibitor composed of toluene, heptanes and xylene was once again, readily absorbed upon initial contact with Kenaf.
·
Finally, water clarifier consisting of copolymer acrylic and water was
not readily absorbed upon initial contact with Kenaf. However,
repetitive saturation of approximately one (1) minute did result in
absorbency.
pH value of Kenaf on a 1:2 dilution with deionized water was 6.97.
Evaporation was present during final weigh back of volatile chemicals.
*Chemicals not readily absorbed.
